Why do meme coin investors demand updates from developers?

Aren’t meme coins supposed to be just for fun, with no real utility?

Yet, I’ve noticed something strange in a meme coin group I joined. Some members are seriously asking the development team for updates and improvements. They even expect the team to work harder and bring new features to what was clearly created as a joke!

Is it just me, or is this a bit odd? I mean, if you’re buying a meme token, aren’t you accepting that it’s just for joke? Or is there something I’m missing about how meme token holders think?
