$PEPIG another Rugpull

Pepig is yet another memecoin from the Solana ecosystem that followed the all-too-familiar pattern of generating hype before the developers pulled the rug on the community. Once again, it dies because of one or two bad actors who will likely create another token or figure to deceive more people. These schemes gradually erode credibility, as no project seems to succeed, and the modus operandi of these scams is so repetitive.

Tokens associated with projects like Pump.fun or those ending with “PUMP” in their addresses always seem to meet the same fate: a rug pull. This happens when the developers abandon the project, withdraw all the funds, or manipulate the price for their own gain, leaving investors with losses.

The impact is twofold: not only do the investors lose their money, but the overall trust in the Solana ecosystem and memecoins, in general, takes a hit. Each new project with similar traits—like tokens with “PUMP” in their address—follows a familiar script: quickly attract an enthusiastic community, create a price pump, and then the creators vanish with the funds.

Pump.fun and other such tokens lose credibility not just because of one scam, but because this “create token – generate hype – pull the rug” cycle has become so common. This modus operandi not only drains the patience and funds of the victims but also undermines trust in the crypto market as a whole, especially regarding memecoins, which are already notorious for being volatile and risky.

Unfortunately, the decentralized and anonymous nature of cryptocurrencies makes it easier for these scams to happen repeatedly. It’s always the same story: new tokens, new figures, and in the end, the same result—losses for the community and profits for a few scammers. People become more distrustful, and over time, legitimate projects suffer, as it becomes harder to differentiate between serious initiatives and yet another scam disguised as the “next big opportunity.”
