I work at an undisclosed chain car parts store & we’ve recently had a change in policy and a new sticker on our store safes because of a Bitcoin ATM scam that hit 2 of our stores.
The Scammers would call the store phone pretending to be higher ups at the company & requesting they pull money out of the safe & wire it to a wallet from a bitcoin ATM
In one case the employee wasn’t even a manager, broke the safe lock & loaded $500 of his own dollars into the Bitcoin ATM simply because the callers request.
I think it less shows the advancements in crypto scams, but about how many are still just too dumb/ lack common sense allowing said scams to be perpetrated.
