I’ve just threw away £9

I used Revolut to buy meme coins and the lowest value crypto.

I thought I’d diversify and by a few at £1.50, not realising the £1.49 fee which I thought was the amount I’m investing with 1p being the fee. How I was wrong.

Now I have 6 different cryptos worth 1p each, all for spending £9.

Meh. I was going to use that £9 on the lottery anyway so I would’ve lost it either way. At least now I have a minimal chance to get it back.

EDIT: To rub salt in the wound, from 24th March 2025, Revolut will charge 50% of trade size under £2 🥲 this is my first time buying Crypto too. This is reflective of my life’s luck.

EDIT3: Thanks to u/Itchynipnips (great name btw) I learned about Revolut X and its super low fees. I contacted Revolut support and asked if I can move my in-app portfolio to the Revolut X platform. I also cheekily asked for a refund in exchange fee difference between the platforms. To my surprise, not only were they able to move my portfolio over, but they also managed to refund me the fee for one of my transactions. Now I have £1.50 worth of PEPE! Better than nothing, and I can say throwing £7.50 is better than £9. And if PEPE does well, at least I have a better chance to recoup it all!
