$HEGE had a bit of a rough weekend, after a valued community member fell for a scam and his wallet, containing 5 mln $HEGE and some smaller bags other memecoins, was drained. The scammers proceeded to sell their significant loot shortly after the theft, causing a temporary drop in the price of $HEGE. It was astonishing to see that the community behind $HEGE quickly responded. First of all, the dip was eaten quickly. Big buys of over $10,000 proved that instead of a panic sell, this dip was seen as an amazing sale of a coin with huge upward potential. Also new holders jumped at this opportunity. $HEGE currently has around 7400 holders, only four months after its inception. And the number of unique holders grew during the sale of the stolen 5 million $HEGE. In the post below, I outline why I think the strength of this particular memecoin community is one of the key assets of this nascent project. 1. Storytelling $HEGE is a unique project, attracting committed community members. $HEGE is the first story driven memecoin. As $HEGE’s market cap grows, more chapters in the story of Hege the hedgehog, Hegena, and two other characters unlock. All the way up to $ 1B market cap, and possibly more, the community can follow the adventures of Hege and his quest for Hegena’s heart. Moreover, $HEGE was created to be a safe space for crypto enthousiasts. The idea was born when the developer, tired of rug pulls and the many scams plaguing the Solana ecosystem, got into a broader discussion about the economy being rigged, causing the rich to stay rich and the poor to stay poor. It was then when the idea for a hedgehog-themed memecoin was born: HEGE, a hedge-fund for the crypto-community. After the developer had outlined his ideas on a reddit post this April, an enthousiastic team quickly joined the project. 2. They were also very quickly to communicate the cause of the dip in the market, and identify the fact that one of the members of the project had made a personal error and had been scammed. 6. Incentive program $HEGE regularly hosts community giveaways, competitions, raids, and bonuses for content creation.
