Can we use a honeypot for good?

Recently I stumbled upon honeypot scams, ofcourse those are very unmoral and scammers should be put to justice. But cant we use the method of a honeypot for a good cause?

Lets say you create a coin which is publicly anounced as unable to sell, only to tell the buyers that somewhere between 2-4 months the coin will be able to be sold, thus creating a chart that can only go up untill it will inevitably drop when sales are permitted.

Let me know your thoughts, I have no intention in creating something like this, just food for thought.
